Trump Warns Americans: 'You're All Going To Lose A Lot Of Money'
President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that if Democrats win in the midterm elections, bad things are going to happen to Americans and their checkbooks.
President Trump now on the stock market: “They’re waiting for the results of the midterms and if the midterms for some reason don’t do so well for the Republicans, I think you’re all going to lose a lot of money.” pic.twitter.com/tlkyFEQsho— Eamon Javers (@EamonJavers) October 31, 2018
Trump has repeated such rhetoric multiple times in the last several days.
The Stock Market is up massively since the Election, but is now taking a little pause - people want to see what happens with the Midterms. If you want your Stocks to go down, I strongly suggest voting Democrat. They like the Venezuela financial model, High Taxes & Open Borders!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 30, 2018
Of course, when the stock market is doing well, he's to credit, but when it's doing bad, he needs someone to blame.
So, is there any truth to it? Does the stock market perform better when Republicans are in power? History doesn't show that to be the case.
According to a Power Post analysis, it's just not true at all.
What Trump is really worried about is impeachment. If Democrats take control of the House, it will almost be a certainty that he would be. Trump has gone as far as to say that impeaching him would crash the market.
There's no evidence for this claim, either.
Regardless of what you think of Trump, remember this: Trump is saying the market is only taking a 'pause' but he was bragging about it being at an all-time high just a few weeks ago.
That was still only a month before the midterms.
