Trump mocks retired marine general by making fun of his looks, just before firing him
President Donald Trump is currently in the middle of purging top officials from the Department of Homeland Security. He's already forced Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to leave office, tweeting out that she was done before she could even hand in her letter.
Just one day after that, the White House also announced that the director of the Secret Service, Randolph D. Alles was being replaced, too. But, not before Trump mocked the retired Marine major general's looks. He reportedly called him "Dumbo" because of his ears.
Trump told "Dumbo" that he had a week to leave (after all, he is the head guy protecting the president), and decided to make the announcement shortly after he axed Kirstjen.
Trump made the decision to let Alles go before they found out that a Chinese woman was carrying a malware device at Mar-a-Lago, which further proves security at Trump's compound wasn't all that great. Officials believe Alles departure was accelerated because of the incident, not why he's leaving.
Despite the name calling, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Alles had done a "great job" and praised his service to his country.
“United States Secret Service director Randolph ‘Tex’ Alles has done a great job at the agency over the last two years, and the President is thankful for his over 40 years of service to the country,” the statement read. “Mr. Alles will be leaving shortly and President Trump has selected James M. Murray, a career member of the [United States Secret Service], to take over as director beginning in May.”
