Trump is now extorting a foreign country to get them to meddle in the 2020 election

President Donald Trump knows his chances at re-election are very slim. He only won the 2016 election by a margin of 88,000 votes in three states, thanks to the electoral college.

He's willing and ready to do anything to win in 2020, we already knew that, but we didn't think that would involve extorting a foreign country. It looks like that's exactly what is going on right now and it's very troubling.

According to the Washington Post, they have been "reliably told" that Trump is wanting Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky to help him win in 2020:

"We’re reliably told that the president has a second and more venal agenda: He is attempting to force Mr. Zelensky to intervene in the 2020 U.S. presidential election by launching an investigation of the leading Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. Mr. Trump is not just soliciting Ukraine’s help with his presidential campaign; he is using U.S. military aid the country desperately needs in an attempt to extort it."

Ukraine desperately needs U.S. military aid. They're fighting Russian aggression in its eastern provinces and Trump has suspended the $250 million they were due to receive. He has also refused to grant the Ukrainian leader a White House visit.

This is all playing into Putin's hands, of course, who could still use Russian tools to try and get Trump re-elected, but Trump is really wanting a Joe Biden controversy in order to help him at the polls come November. That's what we're told.

The Trump administration is trying to create a link between Biden's son Hunter, who served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company, and Vice President Biden who urged the dismissal of a prosecutor who investigated the firm. That's pretty much what the entire thing is about. This in turn will somehow lead to a bunch of smoke and mirrors that aims to distract from real issues voters will be facing in the election.

Trump is mad that Mr. Zelensky isn't able to do anything to help him. Largely, that's because the allegation is completely ridiculous. Biden was only one of a handful of senior officials who pressed for the dismissal of the Ukrainian prosecutor.

Trump is withholding aid until he gets his way. That's extortion. The Pentagon has already reviewed their aid package and recommended that the hold be lifted, yet Trump hasn't done anything yet. We wonder why.
