Trump: If people die, so be it. The economy needs to open (VIDEO)

President Donald Trump made his case to the country again on Tuesday on why businesses should reopen prematurely, even while coronavirus cases are trending upwards.

"I'm viewing our great citizens of this country to a certain extent and to a large extent as warriors. They're warriors. We can't keep our country closed. We have to open our country ... Will some people be badly affected? Yes."

This shouldn't be sugar-coated. "Badly affected" means death and ending up in the hospital, which is simply not okay for a president to say so casually.

Trump went on to dismiss the reasoning of doctors, by suggesting they just want to shut down America for as long as possible, which just isn't true. They are following the science.

"We can't keep it closed. I've had doctors say 'why don't we close it for a couple of years?' This is the United States of America."

Trump is in Arizona today to visit a face mask plant and was asked on why the White House is choosing to phase out the coronavirus task force when he's being told that there could be a recurrence of the virus in the fall.

Trump: "Well, because we can't keep our country closed for the next 5 years."

Trump is right that the economy is in free fall, but the Trump Organization and its hotels particularly have been hit hard. One key question to ask is, is the president's net worth declining by more than a billion dollars during this pandemic affecting his judgment as president right now?
