Trump appears to ask Melania to smile at photo-op and she doesn't look happy doing it (VIDEO)
President Trump visited the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington D.C. on Tuesday and posed for yet another photo-op, this time without a bible and with First Lady Melania standing right next to him.
A close review of the video appears to show Trump telling Melania to smile. Trump then appeared to notice that she still was not smiling and spoke to her again.
While Trump is standing there absolutely beaming from ear to ear, Melania can barely muster a real one. She tried to smile but then it immediately faded. It was definitely fake. She is most likely not in a good mood.
It's possible Melania is at odds with President Trump's response to protests all around the country. She has called for peaceful ones at the same time Trump was threatening to deploy the military to control them.
Melania wasn't the only one who didn't want to be there. Archbishop Wilton Gregory, the nation's highest-ranking African-American bishop, spoke out, too:
"I find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people even those with whom we might disagree."
Throughout Trump's 2016 and 2020 campaigns, he has used churches for photo-op opportunities despite having a significant presence in the religious community prior to running for office.
