Trump's top doctor is now covering his head in shame at POTUS's comments (VIDEO)
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the individual in charge of handling the government's efforts to fight the coronavirus, couldn't hold a straight face during President Trump's latest briefing to the American public.
When Trump started referring to the State Department as "The Deep State Department," Fauci briefly held a smile to keep himself from laughing and then covered his face to hide his emotions.
The moment did not go unnoticed. It is today's talking point and considering symbolism is so powerful culturally, this moment could end up representing Trump's entire handling of the Covid-19.
We have a pretty good feeling that Dr. Fauci is getting a bit irritated with how this administration is reacting to the pandemic.
During the briefing, he had to correct Trump's misstatements about hydroxychloroquine.
Trump referred to it as a "game-changer" but Fauci had to warn a reporter to be careful about calling the drug "fairly effective" because it hasn't been tested yet in a clinical trial. Of course, Fauci didn't say that to Trump's face, but he might as well have. The end result is the same.
Fauci also downplayed Trump's enthusiasm about the potential as a treatment by warning that there's still no data to suggest that “it’s truly effective and safe under the conditions of COVID-19.”
