Senator McSally (R-AZ) calls reporter a "liberal hack" then turns her back to him (VIDEO)

CNN reporter Manu Raju thought he was asking an appropriate question to Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ) on Thursday, but instead got told off.

Just outside of a hearing room, he asked: Should the Senate consider new evidence as part of the impeachment trial?

Her response: "Man, you're a liberal hack. I'm not talking to you."
He countered: "You're not going to comment, senator?"
She doubled down: "You're a liberal hack," as her back was facing him.

Translation: She didn't answer the question.

The scene caused a lot of uproar, so either she or someone from her office decided to triple down by responding again about the incident via her Twitter account. At this point, the news had already circulated wide enough, so this is her way of standing by the statement publicly.

She posted another angle of the video, that doesn't appear to show anything different happening.

Also, it must be noted that the question the reporter asked was perfectly acceptable. He asked it without chasing her, and it appears she was just having a bad morning.

People rushed to Manu Raju's defense:

"He is literally just doing his job on behalf of the American people.  You might want to try doing the same.  I critique the media every day, and (he) is one of the best out there."

"You occupy a seat you didn’t win handed to you after an election you lost.  You’re the f**king hack, ma’am."

"A strange answer to a great reporter asking a question that literally every senator is getting asked.  Also: Not how McSally’s predecessor — John McCain — treated this reporter," said Politico's Jake Sherman.

Some more context: Senator McSally will be facing a very difficult election race. She apparently thinks this will help with her GOP constituents, or she's convinced she won't be elected anyway. The latest polls show her Democratic opponent Mark Kelly beating her by several percentage points.
