Press secretary accidentally shows off check revealing Trump's personal banking info (VIDEO)
White House Press Secretary Kayeligh McEnany was very eager to show off proof that President Trump made his regular quarterly $100,000 donation from his annual presidential salary, a pledge he made during the 2016 campaign.
In fact, she was in a such a hurry that she accidentally revealed much more information than should be made publicly available. During Friday's press conference, she let reporters snap pictures of the entire check, including Trump's private bank account and routing numbers. The New York Times analyzed the slip-up.
The check she had in her hands "appeared to be a real check from Capital One." That is apparently all it takes for an account to be hacked.
“It’s not a best practice to share that information publicly,” said Eva Velasquez, the president and chief executive of the Identity Theft Resource Center. “If you don’t have protections in place, there are sophisticated schemes and ways someone could access those funds knowing the account and routing number and the individual person it belongs to.”
Watch how incompetent this administration is.
Trump donated his salary this quarter to the Department of Health and Human Services to help “support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain and combat the coronavirus.” In the past he has sent his salary to the Small Business Administration, the Office of the Surgeon General, and the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse.
