President Trump Just Threatened War In Late Night Rage
President Donald Trump, in a late night tweet, is cautioning Iran to back away from talking poorly about America.
What is he referring to? Earlier in the day, it was reported that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told Trump that pursuing hostile policies against its country would end up being the "mother of all wars."
"America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars,” Rouhani said, leaving open the possibility of peace between the two countries, at odds since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
“You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests,” Rouhani said, in an apparent reference to reported efforts by Washington to destabilize Iran’s Islamic government.
To this, Trump went off on the Iranian President, threatening a war the world has never seen before. Trump just fired off the tweet very late at night, putting many people in the administration on alarm.
Take a look:
To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 23, 2018
Here's a bit of context: Iran is exporting crude oil to the international market and Trump doesn't like it. Earlier in the month, President Rouhani hinted that Iran may block regional exports if its own sales were halted following the US' withdrawal from a 2015 nuclear deal signed with world powers. There is clearly an economic issue causing tensions between the two leaders. Trump is suggesting that he's capable of starting World War 3 in order to get his way.
Some more info: Senior officials in the Trump administration are suggesting they are capable of going to war, too. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is accusing Iran's leaders of stealing the country's resources to "spread revolution and oppress Iran's 80 million people." This much was reported in Axios.
This is still a breaking news story. Trump must be intoxicated right now.
