Photo taken in D.C. sparks 2020 presidential ticket rumors
A photo taken of former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris is sparking presidential rumors of the next ticket for Democrats in the 2020 race.
Reports earlier in the day indicated that Biden was going to reflect over the holidays with his family on whether or not he should run.
Hours later this photo comes out.
Lily Adams, the Communications Director for Senator Harris is behind the release of the photo, so don't simply dismiss this as two friends simply running into each other out on the streets of Washington D.C. This was somewhat planned.
Not much else is known right now other than the fact that it's highly probably this is a "fishing photo." Meaning: post simple photo with major implications and see how people comment. If the people running Biden's and Harris's campaign think they have enough positive data surrounding the pair, it could very well be a viable ticket. It's a smooth play, really.
A lot of Democrats want Biden to run, and a lot don't. Some think Harris should run for president and Biden should be Vice President, again. Don't count on that last one. Biden has been Vice President for eight years already so if the two are on the ticket, expect Biden to be on the top or not at all.
Biden came out a few weeks ago stating he thinks he is the most qualified person to be president in the country right now. He suggested that an announcement about his candidacy could come out within six weeks.
"I'll be as straight with you as I can. I think I'm the most qualified person in the country to be president," Biden said, according to CNN. "I've been doing this my whole adult life, and the issues that are the most consequential relating to the plight of the middle class and our foreign policy are things that I have — even my critics would acknowledge, I may not be right, but I know a great deal about it."
And, a year ago, he opened up about his "regret that I am not president."
