Pelosi responds to GOP: 'Maybe you just can't do your 'sad' jobs. Your denial cost lives' (VIDEO)
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had some fire in her voice when talking to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell about Republicans bad-mouthing her. They are now saying that Trump's impeachment should take some of the blame for the government's slow response in handling Covid-19.
Andrea Mitchell: Do you think it's fair for Mitch McConnell to suggest that impeachment slowed down the federal response?
Pelosi: "No. That's just sad. They can't handle their jobs I guess. Most people knew about it - those in responsibility. So, what do I say of that? Either you can't handle your job but don't blame impeachment on that. Just blame it on the fact that you didn't want to face the reality. That denial and that delay cost lives."
McConnell is grumbling publicly about his disagreement with Pelosi about the possibility of passing another massive relief bill for American workers.
“She needs to stand down on the notion that we’re going to go along with taking advantage of the crisis to do things that are unrelated to the crisis,” McConnell told the Washington Post, saying it was “premature" to talk further at this point.
“The victims of the coronavirus pandemic cannot wait,” Pelosi said in a statement. “It is moving faster than the leader may have suspected, and even he has said that some things should wait for the next bill. I hope that we can work in a four corners manner for the common good.”
Today is was also announced that Pelosi and Rep. Adam Schiff are preparing to investigate Trump and his administration's response to the "mishandling" of the pandemic. They are creating a Select Committee to lead to the investigation, and the head of that committee will be Rep. Jim Clyburn, who was crucial in backing Biden just before the Super Tuesday primaries.
