Kanye West Meeting With Trump At White House: Discussing Job Opportunities
Rapper and Musician Kanye West is meeting with President Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner at the White House on Thursday, the New York Times is reporting.
Recently, Kanye came under fire for his Saturday Night Live appearance, when he went onstage wearing a "Make America Great Again" red hat and giving a speech on his political views. He also reportedly deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts, both having millions of followers.
“The blacks want always Democrats … you know it’s like the plan they did, to take the fathers out the home and put them on welfare… does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan.
“There’s so many times I talk to, like, a white person about this and they say, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist.’ Well, uh, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
Here's Kanye giving a performance saying "You're such a freaky girl, I love it."
As far as the meeting goes - it's said that the two will discuss the availability of job opportunities for former convicts.
Whether or not this includes an invitation for a senior role for Kanye in the White House, we're not sure yet, but Kanye is said to have a clean criminal record after having his expunged for the beating of photographer Daniel Ramos at Los Angeles International Airport in July 2013.
While nothing official has been announced yet, Kanye would likely head up Trump's 2020 campaign for appealing to more black and minority voters. He could also have a senior post by Trump's side.
Mr. West's wife, Kim Kardashian West, has already held a meeting with President Trump on behalf of commuting a life sentence for Alice Johnson, an African-American woman serving time for a drug related offense. Trump granted her special request within weeks.
The premise of the meeting isn't too unsurprising. Kanye and Trump have flattered each other several times over social media in recent months, and Kanye has taken a lot of criticism for donning red hats, for quite some time now.
Kanye has even referred to Trump as his "brother" and said they have "dragon energy."
They are expected to share a nice lunch with each other and after that who knows what they will announce.
The last time the two met was in 2016 at Trump Tower shortly after Trump won the election. Trump said they only met up because they were "good friends," and Kanye was "a good man."
