Another GOP senator calls out Trump's hypocrisy with Obama: You're the one hurting America
Another Republican senator has just come out against President Trump's decision to pull troops out of Syria and Afghanistan.
Chuck Grassley, who heads the Senate Judiciary Committee, and has been in the Senate since 1980 (an extremely long time), just compared Trump's actions with his hypocrisy over former President Obama's red infamous red-line policy.
He claims that Trump is the one who is going to hurt "America's prestige" now. He also thinks Trump will be emboldening the Taliban by pulling out.
Just add Grassley's name to the list: Defense Secretary Mattis handed in his resignation yesterday, Senate Majority Mitch McConnell took Mattis' side with a statement of his own, Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Marco Rubio called it a grave mistake and major reversal of US policy in the region.
As Grassley wrote this response to the president, the Senate is embroiled in a debate to keep the government funded through Christmas, after the House recently passed a bill giving Trump $5.7 billion for his border wall.
It's said that it's extremely unlikely the Republican-led Senate will approve any funding for the wall. Many Senators have gone home for the holidays and on top of that, they just don't want to support this president.
Trump wants Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to elect the nuclear option, and the deal-making process is frantic. Anything could happen, regardless of what has been previously reported.
Even if Trump does make a miracle work for his funding, he has lost a lot of political capital with his own party by his foreign policy decisions.
Come next election, there could even be a fight within the Republican primary, a rarity for an incumbent president. Expect more turmoil if the economy hits a recession. That's likely to happen considering the DOW just had its worst week in 10 years.
