Obama responds to Trump's "sucker" comment: You're not a sucker to have integrity (VIDEO)

Former President Barack Obama drew immense applause on Friday at the funeral of the late Elijah Cummings (D-MD) when he took apparent shots against President Donald Trump.

“There’s nothing weak about kindness and compassion,” Obama said. “There’s nothing weak about looking out for others. There is nothing weak about being honorable. You’re not a sucker to have integrity and to treat others with respect.”

It's interesting Obama chose the word "sucker" because just not long ago Trump was yelling that the United States were no longer the "suckers" of the world. He has used the word sucker on several occasions, once in front of U.S. troops in Iraq.

“You know, this is a title that we confer on all kinds of people who get elected to public office,” Obama went on. “We’re supposed to introduce them as ‘honorable.’ But Elijah Cummings was honorable before he was elected to office — there is a difference!”

"There is a difference if you are honorable and treated others honorably outside the limelight!"

The crowd roared at this.

Elijah E. Cummings widow said at his funeral that President Trump's attacks on the congressman "hurt him" and made the final months of his life much more difficult. She was referring to Trump's "rat-infested" comments about Baltimore.
