Congress dropping subpoenas down on Trump's head. Email scandal bigger than Hillary's.
House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings is going after President Donald Trump over what they say is recently revealed information regarding his son-in-law's use of a personal email account to conduct official business in the White House.
Yeah, remember all the stink over Hillary Clinton? Well, apparently, Trump doesn't care if his administration does it.
For the first time on Thursday, the information has become public, between Rep. Cummings, Rep Trey Gowdy, and Kushner's lawyer, Abbe Lowell.
Cummings says that Lowell has begrudgingly confirmed that Kushner continues to use a personal email for his top secret clearance job, and not only that but he's on "WhatsApp," a service provided by Facebook. Cummings will issue subpoenas if the White House refuses to comply, which has already told Congress to take a flying leap. So, expect this to happen.
When questioned on the matter, Lowell told Congress: "That's above my pay grade." Basically: he has no idea why Kushner would do such a thing and doesn't even want to comment on the matter, fearing it could affect his client.
Here's a bit of weird info on that: Kushner, in trying to keep in compliance with federal record keeping law, says that he takes screenshots that he himself administers, and send them to his White House email, so that the public record is preserved. But, how do we know he's screenshoting everything? It's a complete joke.
And, he's also conducting state business via WhatsApp: He reportedly communicates with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman using the channel.
That's not all, though. Ivanka, Trump's daughter and Kushner's wife, also conducts official White House business through her personal email account.
Cummings is suggesting that Trump's family is in violation of the Presidential Records Act because she is not forwarding those emails to her official White House account, even though Kushner claims he is trying to abide by the rules.
All of this is a complete joke.
