A Mexican fan of President Trump was just sentenced for voter fraud in California
A Mexican citizen and proud supporter of President Donald Trump was just sentenced to 3 years, 9 months in prison on Tuesday, after voting illegally in five federal elections.
“For the past 20 years, prosecutors say, Lerma voted illegally in federal elections and was an avid Trump supporter who sent money to the Republican Party and was rewarded for his fealty with letters of thanks from the president, former Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus and current RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel,” the Sacramento Bee reported.
Lerma said in his testimony that he didn't think what he did constituted voter fraud because he "could have" been born in the United States, despite actually being born in Mexico in 1955.
“Yes, I signed up to vote and I voted,” Lerma testified. “I’m a Republican and I voted for Donald Trump, too.
“I’ve always voted for my Republican Party.’
U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez was not too pleased.
“He still hasn’t admitted anything,” Mendez said before sentencing. “I don’t expect him to admit anything here this morning. That’s just not him. This is a man with absolutely no remorse.”
Lerma stole an American's identity in order to vote for Trump.
Ever since President Donald Trump was sworn into office, he has pledged repeatedly that voter fraud was rampant throughout the country, including possibly millions of illegal ballots by non-citizens. He claims that's how Hillary Clinton was able to get more popular votes than him, despite winning the electoral college.
Nearly three years later this is still no proof of wide-ranging voter fraud. Trump even had to disband his own Commission on Voter Fraud, and blamed it on states not providing him with the information he needed to continue. Basically, he couldn't find anything to support such large claims.
